How do you determine what’s best for a loved one?
Proper care for those who are disabled or chronically ill begins with information. The Life
Care Plan provides the information needed by responsible
parties for making decisions and disbursements that help foster an optimal quality of life for those who cannot care for themselves.
The Plan is a valuable tool for parents, guardians, Orphans’ Court, and trust administrators or attorneys overseeing the care and welfare of an
individual. It can offer clear and informed guidance in helping to:
- Develop a network of supports to ensure that needs are being met
- Assure that services are appropriate, affordable, and of the highest quality
For parents and other family members, a major concern is the question of what happens to my loved one if something happens to me? Who will care for them? On what basis will those healthcare and quality-of-life decisions be made?
This is an issue that no one wants to think about. Yet, not to plan for unforeseen emergencies is to leave decisions about future care in the hands of someone else-someone who won’t know nearly as well about an individual’s wants and needs.
Life Care Planning for Future Care enables families to clarify and record their wishes for the future care of a family member. Why turn over a family’s future wellbeing to the government or to strangers in the event of incapacitation, when there is a means to specify –today!-how a family member is to be cared for when their primary caregiver can no longer function in that capacity?
Through Life Care Planning for Future Care, the wishes of caregivers, appropriate resources, service providers, and government programs become part of the overall estate plan that enables families to simplify some of the complex and otherwise burdensome aspects of trust administration. Most importantly, this plan provides the security of knowing that there is a recorded plan, based upon their wishes, to be carried out by their administrators.
